At Hope Island Early Learning Sanctuary, we believe early learning is about much more than preparing children for school. It is about helping children develop confidence, curiosity, resilience, kindness and a genuine sense of belonging.

Introducing Little Custodians

One of the exciting ways we are strengthening our approach to early learning is through our Little Custodians – Nature, Country & Connection Program.

Little Custodians isn’t simply an occasional activity or excursion. It is an approach that we are embedding into children’s everyday experiences.

Children might spend their morning investigating an insect they have discovered, checking what has changed in the garden, observing our local wildlife, collecting natural materials, caring for plants, exploring the worm farm or asking questions that lead an entire group in a completely unexpected direction.

These moments provide wonderful opportunities for educators to extend children’s thinking.
